Psychology FAQs
Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
You can book privately without a referral. To access Medicare rebates, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Care Plan and refer you — ask us and we’ll explain how it works.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a confidential conversation to understand what’s going on and what you’d like to work towards. There’s no pressure — we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Is what I share kept private?
Yes. Your sessions are confidential, in line with professional and legal obligations. Your psychologist will explain the few limited exceptions at your first appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies from person to person. Your psychologist will talk through what might suit you and review progress together as you go.
